Sunset at Lake Maloney |
Used to love surprises as a kid. That was when surprises were generally something wonderful, like new skates or Petit Fours from your Indiana Granny on your birthday. Or rainbows.
Occasionally you get a little something like the sunset up top. We live at Lake Maloney south of North Platte, NE - at least part of the time. It is a small lake, only about 1500 acres and is part of a system belonging to Dawson County Public Power. It is part of a chain of lakes producing hydroelectric power. Most people would be amazed that
an area that was once known as the Great American Desert actually sits above the Ogallala Aquafir, which supplies water and power to most of the middle of the United States.
Nice surprise, huh?
